Malala Fund is working to encourage girls that their voice matters and aims to create a world where every girl can learn and choose her own future.
In 2019, Malala Fund refreshed its brand with a new logo, fonts, colors, and icons inspired by traditional patterns and youthful colors. With this update, they needed a website that captured Malala’s story, encouraged activism and donations, and aligned with the new brand identity. The challenge was ensuring that the new colors and fonts remained legible and accessible for all users. The content focused on large, emotive photos, clear faces, and hopeful stories, representing their international partners. A set of playful, grid-based icons added visual interest, guiding users and drawing attention to key sections.
The design process began with creating a style tile to organize the brand for the web, followed by wireframes and mockups. The site was built responsively in order to accommodate a consistent and readable experience across multiple devices and layouts.
